EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS

Seek to improve the quality of the public educational system in terms of skill enhancement and manpower augmentation. Under this are: 

  • TEACHERS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (TDP)

     

    Sends faculty volunteers of the University to under-served areas to share academic knowledge and teaching skills in the different subjects, allowing the University to open its resources to underrepresented areas.

  • GURONG PAHINUNGOD(GP)

     

    Deploys UP Alumni volunteers to impart new methods of effective teaching. It also seeks to help public schools students to pass UPCAT and to help the community with educational and social welfare projects.

  • TUTORIAL SERVICES PROGRAM (TSP)

     

    Provides academic enrichment resources to public school students on subjects such as English, Mathematics, Reading and Science.

COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAMS

aims to provide direct assistance and share its knowledge to help in alleviating the existing health concerns of communities that lack medical facilities and expertise. 

  • HEALTH TRAINING PROGRAM (HT)

    Conducted to empower local health workers and educators for lasting relief and less dependent forms of service and equip them with basic life saving skills and knowledge, providing a more sustainable form of health service to communities

  • HOSPICE CARE PROGRAM- SUPPORTIVE, HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE MEDICINE (HCP-SHPM)

    Established to provide supportive and palliative services to individuals and its families who are affected with a life threatening condition. The program is jointly managed together with the Philippine General Hospital- Department of Family and Community Medicine (PGH-DFCM).

  • EMERGENCY ROOM VOLUNTEER PROGRAM (ERVP)

    The program exposes UP Manila volunteers to hospital experiences to provide supplementary
    manpower by assisting patients, Monitoring their vital signs, assist in the initial assessment and
    resuscitation of trauma patients, as well as other possible aid they  can extend. THis program is 
    active quarterly, Deploying volunteers to the areas of Triage, Pediatric Unit, Observation Unit and
    Acute Care.

  • HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAM (HE)

     

    Conducted with the aim of informing individuals and communities on common ailments, hygiene, sanitation and other topics.

  • HEALTH MISSIONS PROGRAM (HMP)

    Through the efforts of the volunteers, sponsors and coordinators  bring the clinical services and expertise (medical consultations, dental treatments, surgical procedures or any combination of these services) of PGH medical professionals to areas outside Metro Manila.

COMMUNITY SOCIAL WELFARE PROGRAMS

conducts activities that intend to enlighten the volunteers with the realities of life such poverty, social injustices, unhealthy lifestyles, etc. With these realizations at hand, volunteers will have a standard as to what is appropriate and relevant service, founded on the real issues of the community. 

  • SUMMER IMMERSION SERVICE PROGRAM (SISP)
    immersion

     

    Deploys student and faculty volunteers from the University to 3-4 weeks immersion and community work in rural communities. It seeks to expose the volunteers to the hard realities of life faced in underserved communities

     

  • PROGRAM FOR THE STREET CHILDRENS (SK)
    Street children

     

    Provided activities that promotes the interest and well-being of street children in coordination with various institutions with similar thrusts. It focuses on activities that promotes self. confidence and artistic capabilities of the children.

     

  • LIVELIHOOD PROGRAM (LP)
    livelihood

     

    Seeks to help communities (especially in rural areas) by training them in marketable job skills that will better equip them to become self-sufficient. It also looks into various ways to provide self-sustaining.Income-generating activities for target recipients to enable them to augment their income by engaging in economically Productive endeavors.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAM
    EHEP

     

    Adheres to the interdependence and interconnectedness of health, development community and the environment. It assumes an holistic approach which puts less emphasis on curing diseases.

  • ADVOCACY PROGRAM (AP)

     

    Promotes and campaigns for volunteerism in the university and to other concerned agencies. It also include office documentation of  volunteer work, dissemination of information through publications, audio-visual presentations, room to roon campaigns and networking with other organizations, offices and individuals

  • DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND RISK MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (DPRMP)

    Organized to prepare and train volunteers in all aspects of disaster response. It also coordinates with other organizations, both government and non-government agencies involved in disaster management.
